Business Communication: Skills for Professional Growth
Written for introductory business communication courses.
Business Communication: Skills for Professional Growth teaches students to communicate with purpose, audience, and context in mind, in workplaces where AI is part of everyday communication. Research-based chapters pair self-assessment and reflection with case studies and practice, along with guidance on using AI tools responsibly, from drafting messages to preparing for interviews.
What endures, and how to adapt it
We set out to write an updated, AI-forward textbook that keeps the basics of communication at its center. Those fundamentals don't change when the tools do. The book applies those lasting principles to a workplace that is changing fast, so students learn both what endures and how to adapt it.
- Shaped by students. A UT Dallas Center for Teaching and Learning working group asked students what they like and dislike in textbooks, and what helps them learn.
- Reviewed by faculty. Business communication professors reviewed the chapters as they were drafted, so the book fits the way the course is actually taught.
